“Don’t forget we were playing against Arsenal” – Liverpool ace Emre Can issues reaction to 4-0 win over Gunners

In-form midfielder Emre Can has issued his reaction to Liverpool’s victory over Arsenal on Sunday.

Liverpool thrashed their title rivals by a 4-0 scoreline at Anfiled to move into second place in the Premier League.

Can has been in impressive form so far this season. The 23-year-old helped Germany lift the Confederations Cup in Russia last month, and scored a brace against Hoffenheim to secure a spot in the Champions League.

The Germany international also played a starring role on Sunday against Arsenal. Can helped his side assert a midfield dominance over the north London-based club.

Following the game, Can heaped praise on his teammate for their performances but urged them not to get carried away.

“It was a big, big performance. I think everyone did great and I think you can’t play much better,” Can was quoted as saying by the Independent after the game.

“Don’t forget we were playing against Arsenal. When was the last time that Liverpool won against Arsenal 4-0? The performance was just great.

“Of course it gives us confidence and now we go into the internationals and everybody’s happy. It’s a good start now – but we have to keep working. Our performance was good, but we need to keep it up. It’s just the start.”

Can also revealed that he is trying to carry out manager Jurgen Klopp’s instructions to drive the team forward whenever he can.

“He expects that from us midfield players and I tried to do it,” Can stated.

“Of course I can’t do it every time but I tried to do it more often than last year. It’s worked good so far.

“I think you could see on Wednesday we played a high tempo and here again. You can see that we worked very well in pre-season. Everybody feels good, everybody feels in good shape and that’s very important.”

Liverpool take on Manchester City at the Etihad stadium when the Premier League returns on September 9.
