Ugurcan Cakir Liverpool

Liverpool have held talks with Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir according to his agent Engin Kirkpinar.

The Reds are reportedly interested in the 23-year-old keeper but face competition from Schalke 04 and Lille who have been scouting him.

The Premier League giants have not made an official offer but talks remain ongoing.

Kirkpinar told Turkish radio station Radyospor: “Lille and Schalke have been scouting Ugurcan, Schalke have not made an official offer.

“Liverpool are interested in him, they have not made an official bid but talks have been held and we remain in contact but nothing has been decided yet.”

Cakir has been in impressive form for Trabzonspor ever since establishing himself as a first-team star on 25 November 2018.

The keeper rose through the ranks of the Trabzonspor satellite club Trabzon 1461 before being taken on by the Super Lig outfit.

The Turkey international has conceded 20 goals and kept five clean sheets in 18 league games this term.

With Alisson Becker as first-team keeper Liverpool interest would only make sense if they viewed him as a potential backup keeper.

The Reds loaned out Loris Karius to Besiktas on a two-year deal over the summer but Simon Mignolet remains available despite making just two appearances this season.
