Liverpool have become the latest club to join the race for Fenerbahce midfielder Ozan Tufan according to Fanatik.
The report claims that the Reds along with Everton, Tottenham and Manchester United have been keeping tabs on the 21-year-old midfielder.
Liverpool have been linked with the Turkish international midfielder in the past. Tufan’s father revealed that the Reds were among the clubs keeping tabs on his son prior to his move to Fenerbahce.
“Other big European teams have sent scouts to watch Ozan play…AC Milan, Juventus, Liverpool Chelsea and both Manchester clubs, City and United,” Mehmet Tufan told Spanish newspaper AS.
The Metro also reported that Liverpool had also been monitoring the highly rated midfielder last year.
A source to Fenerbahce did however, tell Turkish-football.com that the club are keen on keeping hold of Tufan over the summer and he does have another four-years remaining on his contract.
The Istanbul giants value the midfielder as being worth €20 million and he is expected to play a major role in his sides midfielder should he stay.
Tufan’s manager Vitor Pereira actually described the box-to-box midfielder as reminding him of Yaya Toure.
“He still has a lot to learn and that is my job but the world will soon have a central midfielder on the level of Yaya Toure on their hands,” he said speaking on Sport Tv following Turkey’s 2-0 victory over the Czech Republic.
Tufan has established himself as one of the most promising midfielders in Turkish football and is represented by the same agent as Arda Turan.
