Liverpool Keeper Loris Karius Will Reportedly Get Dropped Ahead Of Next Besiktas Europa League Game

Loris Karius has established himself as a first-team keeper for Besiktas since joining on loan over the summer.

Karius did however, come under criticism for what appeared at first glance to be a mistake in the Europa League Group 2 clash away to Malmo.

The keeper conceded a calamitous goal but the replays showed that it was actually an own goal, with the cross – or was it a shot – taking a wicked deflection off Caner Erkin.

The fact that it was an own goal did not stop Karius coming under pressure.

It now looks like the keeper could end up getting dropped for the next Europa League game against Genk on Thursday.

Fotomac claim Besiktas manager Senol Gunes will drop Kairus against Genk and bring in Tolga Zengin.

Per the source, Karius will be given a rest as Gunes is worried about the pressure being put on the keeper.

Despite the latest report we have not heard anything from the Besiktas camp suggesting Karius will be dropped.

The German keeper did take part in full team training and was first-choice keeper in the warm-up games.

It remains to be seen what decision Gunes will make but with second-choice keeper Tolga Zengin recovering from injury and returning to full match fitness even if Karius does keep his place he will know he does have competition in goal.
