Liverpool legend reveals who impressed him during 3-1 win over Arsenal
Liverpool legend John Aldridge has heaped praise on the Germany international midfielder Emre Can.
The former Reds striker told the Liverpool Echo that Can was one of the stars of the show against Arsenal last weekend.
Aldridge was impressed with how Emre Can countered the threat posed by Olivier Giroud and stated that the 22-year-old’s game has improved in recent weeks.
“But credit to the players, they stepped up again. You could say we caught Arsenal at a good time, but they’re still a good side with top players, and we had to play well to beat them,” Aldridge was quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo.
“We bossed the midfield in the first half – Emre Can did a really good job stopping Olivier Giroud from influencing the game. Can was much better than he has been of late, which was good to see.”
Emre Can’s Liverpool future has been called into doubt as he has under 18 months remaining on his current deal. T
he Reds are yet to start contract negotiations with the former Bayer Leverkusen man.
