Liverpool midfielder transfer still on despite knee injury

Liverpool midfield Lucas Leiva’s proposed move to Galatasaray is still on the cards despite suffering a knee injury during a pre-season friendly.

According to the Turkish outlet Fotomac, the Lion’s are looking to negotiate a lower loan fee following the Brazil international’s injury.

The Liverpool Echo newspaper states that Lucas will miss around a month of football, meaning he will miss Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Arsenal in August.

The 29-year-old suffered an injury during the 2-0 victory over Huddersfield earlier this week. Liverpooltravel to the US next for the next part of their summer tour but it remains to be seen if Lucas will make the trip.

Galatasaray have been after a new defensive midfielder ever since Felipe Melo joined Inter Milan on transfer deadline day last summer. The Istanbul giants will be able to fully focus on the league campaign next season as they have been issued a one-year European competition from from UEFA for failing to meet FFP regulations.
