Ancelotti Warns Liverpool That Italian Giants Want Revenge On Tuesday

Liverpool take on Roma in the Champions League semi-final first-leg tie at Anfield on Tuesday.

The last big European game between these sides was in the 1984 European Cup final in the Italian capital, with the Reds prevailing with a 4-2 win on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Carlo Ancelotti spoke to the Italian press about the upcoming clash between the Reds and Roma.

Ancelotti warned Liverpool that the Giallorossi have not forgot about the 1984 final and will be out for revenge.

“Roma will be playing the UCL semi-finals against Liverpool? I didn’t play that final, which is why Roma lost (laughing)! That Roma versus Liverpool game surely left a lot of Roma fans disappointed,” Ancelotti was quoted as saying in IlBianconero.

“I once went to Rome to celebrate Bruno Conti’s farewell and I said: “Football always gives you the chance to get revenge”. I think that this will be their chance to get some revenge against Liverpool.

“It won’t be easy since Liverpool are in great shape and they have a good coach. Even so, Roma did great against Barcelona so they have to keep on dreaming…”.

Roma will be underdogs but they have already beat Chelsea and Barcelona this season.

The semi-final will be a first for Turkey international Cengiz Under who was rested against SPAL on the weekend.

Under provided the assist that knocked Barcelona out of the quarter-finals and scored the goal that knocked Shakhtar out on away goals.

The 20-year-old was signed as a replacement for Mohamed Salah who joined Liverpool this summer.

Salah has 40 goals and 28 assists in all competitions this season. The Egypt international is also expected to start.
