Liverpool news: Euro giants official has held talks with Brazilian ace, £3.4m per-season contract discussed

Liverpool news: Euro giants official has held talks with Brazilian ace, £3.4m per-season contract discussed

Galatasaray official Cenk Ergun has held talks with Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva and his representatives according to reports in Turkey.

Turkish newspaper Star have revealed that Ergun held talks with Leiva’s representatives earlier in the week.

Per the source, talks went well and he will now hold a meeting with Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek before taking the next step.

Lucas is demanding £3.4 million per-season but Galatasaray are keen on negotiating a lower deal.

Galatasaray were closely linked with Lucas over the summer and in January but the deal fell through at the last stages.

The Brazilian ace is the longest serving member of the Liverpool team having been at the club for 10 seasons.

The 30-year-old will however, be a free contract at the end of the season and has yet to be offered a new deal.

Lucas did recently hinted that he is uncertain of his future at the Reds

“There is no doubt about my commitment to Liverpool, I just need to wait until the end of the season, work hard and make a decision together with the club,” he was quoted as saying by the Telegraph.

“I have been here long enough and if the time comes for me to go somewhere else I think I will leave with the feeling that I did everything I could.”
