Liverpool Plan To Complete £12m Swiss Winger Transfer Before United States Tour, Super Lig Giants Priced Out Race

Liverpool have stepped up efforts to complete the striker of Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri according to the Daily Mail.

Per the source, the Reds want to wrap up a £12m deal for the Swiss international before they leave for the pre-season USA tour which begins on July 21.

Liverpool will play Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Manchester United before returning to Europe.

The Potters were relegated at the end of the season and his club are resigned to him leaving over the summer despite having two-years remaining on his contract.

Shaqiri is currently on holiday having helped Switzerland reach the World Cup Last 16.

The winger is entitled to a three-week break which would see him return for the week beginning July 23 so he may have to return earlier than expected if he hopes to be in Liverpool’s plans.

Liverpool will have one less potential rival for Shaqiri’s signature to worry about as Turkish-Football have learned that Galatasaray are out of the race.

The Lions signed Henry Onyekuru on loan from Everton instead.

The Super Lig based outfit were not willing to offer the £12 million Stoke want for their star man.

Galatasaray had wanted Shaqiri on a loan deal which would have meant Stoke could have kept him on next season if they ensured promotion back to the Premier League.

The Lions finished last season as Super Lig winners and booked a place in the Champions League group stage in the process.
