Liverpool receive huge boost in race to sign Emre Can replacement this summer – Man United also interested in the Italy international

Liverpool are preparing for life without their star midfielder Emre Can.

The 24-year-old was on-form yet again during the Reds 0-0 draw against FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League last night.

However, Liverpool have failed in their attempts to extend his contract. Can could end up leaving the club for free in the Summer.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Napoli star midfielder Jorginho as an Emre Can replacement.

Manchester United are also in the race to sign the Italy international this summer.

Both sides received a boost today as Jorginho’s agent revealed that his client would be a ‘great fit for the Premier League.’

“I follow the Premier League,” Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos told SunSport.

“I’m sure Jorginho has the characteristics to play there.

“He runs more than 13km every game and he has a great technique. I don’t have a figure in my mind, the price is set by the president.”

“It’s normal for top European clubs to keep players of this type on their radars.

“We’re waiting for May. We hope Napoli can win the league. Then if Napoli wants to renew the contract, we can talk about it.

“The same if they want to sell Jorginho. There are no official and concrete proposals for him from UK.

“I don’t know if [Napoli chairman, Aurelio] De Laurentiis will call me at the end of the season to extend his contract. I suppose that [he will].

“We are available to deal with [the club]. He has become Neapolitan and is in a family. He is a top-level player.”

According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United view Jorginho as a replacement for Michael Carrick who will retire from Professional football at the end of the season.

Liverpool are back in action this weekend when they take on their bitter rivals Man United in the Premier League this weekend.
