Liverpool receive major boost as Euro giants rule out January move for midfield ace, summer bid confirmed

Serie A giants Juventus has confirmed that they tabled a bid for Liverpool star midfielder Emre Can.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Merseyside based club after failing to sign a new deal.

Can has under nine months remaining on his contract with Liverpool and may end up leaving the club for free next summer.

Juve CEO Beppe Marotta confirmed the bid for Can but ruled out a January move for the 23-year-old.

“We don’t think we are going to make a big signing in January,” Marotta told Premium Sport.

“Our team is absolutely competitive and we have some very interesting midfielders like [Rodrigo] Bentancur who has already showed his qualities.

“We have faith in this team and in these lads. As for Emre Can I don’t think Liverpool will sell him in January.

“We made an offer for him in the summer but the Reds didn’t sell him so I don’t think they’ll change their mind in the middle of the season.”

Liverpool signed Emre Can back in 2014 from Bayer Leverkusen after meeting his £9.75 million release clause. The Germany international has gone on to make 132 appearances for the Reds.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were held to a 1-1 draw with Newcastle over the weekend. The Reds take on Manchester United in their next Premier League fixture on October 14.
