Liverpool take on Southampton at the St Mary’s Stadium on Sunday in the Premier League.
The Saints beat West Brom 3-2 last weekend to end a 12-match streak without a victory.
The win opened up a two-point gap between themselves and the drop zone.
Despite heading into the Liverpool clash in high spirits they have not won a home Premier League game since November.
The visitors meanwhile were twice pegged back by Tottenham last Sunday in a controversial 2-2 draw.
Without getting into the debate over whether the penalty decisions were correct it is worth pointing out that Liverpool have lost just one of their last 17 league games.
Interestingly enough the one defeat was against Swansea. Liverpool have actually fared worse against side in the bottom half of the table at times this season.

Jurgen Klopp has received a double injury boost heading into the clash as defenders Ragnar Klavan and Alberto Moreno have recovered from muscle injuries to take their places in the squad.
Klopp will still be without right-back Joe Gomez due to a knee problem while Adam Lallana has made the squad after returning from a thigh problem but is not likely to start.
Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk is likely to start on his first return to Southampton since his £75million January move.
Midfielder of Turkish origin Emre Can has made the squad and is likely to be named in the starting line-up.
Klopp has named a strong squad but there are suggestions that he may make rotations with the Champions League Last 16 clash against Porto set to be played this week.
