Liverpool sent scouts to the Super Lig clash between bitter rivals Trabzonspor and Fenerbahce on Sunday 1 September at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium.
A Trabzonspor insider revealed to Turkish-Football that the Reds sent a scout to the game and that they have been monitoring goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir since last season.
Liverpool lack depth in the goalkeeper department, Adrian is filling in for the injury Alisson Becker.
Loris Karius is currently on loan at Besiktas but the Super Lig side could end up signing the German keeper on a permanent move if they use their buy option.
Cakir has enjoyed a meteoric rise ever since breaking into the first-team last season.
The 23-year-old is one of the highest-rated goalkeepers in the league and put on another impressive display over the weekend against Fenerbahce.
Cakir made eight saves over the course of the 90 minutes including several incredible stops in the second half to prevent Fenerbahce from scoring again.
