Liverpool could have star midfielder Emre Can fit and ready to face Arsenal in their opening Premier League clash against Arsenal on Saturday 14 August.
Can was in training today and the Liverpool Echo report that he is likely to start alongside either captain Jordan Henderson or summer signing Gini Wijnaldum.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp faces a race against time for Daniel Sturridge and James Milner who are battling for match fitness and Marko Grujic is trying to shake off an ankle injury.
Can only recently stated that he is a doubt for the opening Premier League clash of the season against Arsenal.
The 22-year-old was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: “To be honest I’m not 100 per cent and I have to work hard to get there.
‘I have been working hard to get there for next week, then we will see how far along I am.”
The Germany international of Turkish origin joined his squad late for pre-season after an extended break following the Euro 2016 campaign.
Can joined up with his teammates a fortnight ago and has only managed to play 45 minutes of people in each of the Reds games against Roma, Barcelona and Mainz.
The powerful midfielder would strengthen Jurgen Klopp’s hand going into the Arsenal game if he does turn out to be match fit.
