Liverpool Star Hopes Of Making Champions League Final Fade

Liverpool star Emre Can has not featured since the 5-0 victory over Watford due to a back problem.

Can was taken off against Watford and has not played for the Reds since.

The midfielder of Turkish origin did look like he could recover in time for the Champions League final against Real Madrid at the end of the month.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp had hoped to have Can back in training but his latest scan showed he is not yet ready for a return and will continue to have treatment.

Asked about his injury and his contract, Klopp said: “There is nothing new on both parts – still treatment and rehab.

“If we would have agreed anything, you would have known that. It’s like it was before.”

Can has just a few months remaining on his current contract but has yet to agree a new deal with the Reds.

As things stand the 24-year-old will be a free agent at the end of the season.

The powerful midfielder has been closely linked with a move to Juventus but has yet to reach an agreement.

The final will take place in Kiev on May 26 2018.
