Liverpool star Emre Can stated that he is a doubt for the opening Premier League clash of the season against Arsenal.
Can was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: “To be honest I’m not 100 per cent and I have to work hard to get there.
‘I have been working hard to get there for next week, then we will see how far along I am.”
Can joined pre-season training late after an extended break due to his Euro 2016 duties. The 22-year-old played for Germany in the semi-finals against France and was given a lengthy break afterwards.
The hardworking midfielder travelled to Turkey to meet friends and family before jetting off to the US West Coast.
Can only rejoined his teammates a fortnight ago playing his first preseason game against Roma. The Germany intentional of Turkish origin started against Barcelona but could only manage 45 minutes and only played the first half in the 4-0 defeat against Mainz 05 on Sunday.
There are concerns regarding Can’s fitness and he is may not start against the Gunners but is expected to be included in the line-up.
Liverpool take on Arsenal on Saturday 14 August at the Emirates in what could end up being a clash between two title challengers.
