Liverpool star Emre Can returned to Melwood yesterday to begin pre-season training with the rest of the squad.
Both Can and Philippe Coutinho were given extended leave due to their international commitments over the summer.
The 21-year-old features in Germany u21’s European Championship campaign in the Czech Republic. Can scored a goal in his sides opening game and provided an assist in the second group game. The former Bayer Leverkusen man played in midfield for Germany, a position he wants to play in for Liverpool.
Can recently revealed that he has spoken with Rodgers about his desire to play in midfield and that the Reds boss also wants to see him play in the teams centre.
“Of course, we talked about this. The manager has said he sees me as a midfielder, and that’s where I want to play in the near future,” Can told the Anfield Wrap.
The Germany u21 international made a total of 27 appearances for the Premier League outfit last season and also featured in the FA Cup and Europa League.
