Liverpool suffered another injury blow today after finding out Emre Can will miss the next four to five weeks due to rupturing ankle ligaments in the Europa League win over Borussia Dortmund.
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp did however, underline that Can could return before the end of the season.
Klopp revealed: “Emre is injured. He will take time. It’ll be for the next four or five weeks so we should not say the season is finished.”
Liverpool will now be without two key midfielders following the latest injury to captain Jordan Henderson who is out with damaged knee ligaments.
The Reds will take on Villarreal next in the Europa League semi-finals but if they do progress to the final Can may just recover in time as it will be played on 18 May.
Can starred in the 4-3 win over Borussia Dortmund at Anfield last Thursday providing the assist for the Reds first goal just after the half-time whistle.
The 22-year-old has been one of the Reds most impressive players this season especially after the appointment of Jurgen Klopp.
