Liverpool star Roberto Firmino has been in great form this season scoring an impressive 23 goals and providing 13 assists.
Firmino is clearly one of the best performing players in the Premier League this season but who does he rate?
Well it turns out there are so many great players in the league that he can’t just single out one player.
The Brazilian split up his best player list by goalscorers and midfielders, funnily enough just one defender and keeper was named… none other than Dejan Lovren – perhaps not everyones number one pick.
Firmino named Arsenal star Mesut Ozil in his list – the only player from the North London based outfit he rates as being among the best.
Ozil has five goals and 10 assists in all competitions this season.
Another surprise name in Firmino’s list was Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko.
The 26-year-old included three players of Turkish origin in Ozil, Emre Can and Ilkay Gundogan.
“We have great players in English football, it’s hard to select one as the outright best. That’s why it’s the most popular league with many quality teams. We can talk about the goalscorers Salah and Harry Kane,” Firmino told Goal.
“We also have Gabriel Jesus, Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan in Manchester City, Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku at Manchester United, Moussa Sissoko and Mousa Dembele at Tottenham, Willian and Eden Hazard at Chelsea, Mesut Ozil at Arsenal.”
“Not to mention Mane, Emre Can, Dejan Lovren and the many other good players we have here at Liverpool. It is a league with great stars. Virtually everyone I mentioned will be at the World Cup. The level is very high.”
Mane will be happy to know Firmino also thinks he is a top player.
Firmino, Mane and Salah have 73 goals between them this season in all competitons.
