Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum was closely linked with a move to Turkey earlier in the summer.
Transfer rumors were rife in the Turkish media that a move to Fenerbahce could be on the cards following the arrival of Naby Keita and Fabinho.
The increased competition reportedly unsettled Wijnaldum but it turns out that the midfielder
It turns out that the Dutch midfielder actually wants to stay on and never even considered leaving Anfield this summer.
“I laughed about it,” Wijnaldum said. “I also read I asked the club if I could leave. I never had a conversation with the club. People from the outside just see Liverpool are buying players, so players who are already here are going to leave. Liverpool will always buy good players, even if they already have good players. That’s normal.
“I think it has to be normal, because that means you’re a big club. But that was something from the media that I was going to Turkey. Maybe because Phillip Cocu is manager [of Fenerbahce] and I worked with him for two years. I don’t know who put it in the media but it wasn’t me.”
It all started when Ryan Babel asked his followers whether he should convince the Netherlands international to join Besiktas.
The results where an overwhelming, ‘Yes do it!!!’.

A Spor then went onto report that Wijnaldum wanted to move to Fenerbahce claiming he is considering opening a ‘new chapter’ in his career.
Fenerbahce are managed by Wijnaldum’s former manager Phillip Cocu and he was reported to be tempted to have a reunion.
Fenerbahce did not however, make a formal move for the 27-year-old and going by his latest comments, Wijnaldum never entertained the thought of leaving Anfield.
