Liverpool Suffer Blow In Bid To Keep Star Midfielder As Real Madrid President Green Lights Deal

Liverpool star Emre Can faces an uncertain future as he enters the last few months on his contract.

The midfielder of Turkish origin will be a free agent at the end of the season unless he signs a new deal.

Can has been closely linked with a move to Juventus who have made it clear they want the midfielder but the Italian giants have been growing frustrated as he has refused to make a final decision.

Spanish outlet Don Balon meanwhile, reports that Real Madrid have become serious players in the race for the 24-year-old.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has given the green light for a deal for Can to be struck.

Per the source, Perez is keen on revamping his midfield and Can could be brought in to herald a new era at the club.

The Germany international is currently out injured since suffering a back injury in the 4-0 win over Watford before the international break.

Can was initially expected to miss the rest of the season but could return before the Champions League final – if Liverpool make it that far.

Jurgen Klopp said: “I said it will be difficult for him to play again this season.

“That’s when our season was ending mid-May. Since then Emre has developed well.

“He is in good hands at the moment. He’s not overly happy with the situation but is positive.

“I’m not sure if it’s true he won’t be out for the season now. He’s definitely out for Bournemouth.”
