Liverpool target will not leave Barcelona in January

Barcelona star Arda Turan is on the radar of Liverpool according to the Daily Star [via Don Balon].

Per the source, the Reds have been keeping tabs on Turan and set to make a move for the Turkish international midfielder over the summer transfer window.

Turan will however, be staying at Barcelona over the winter transfer break a source close to the player told Turkish-football.com.

Barcelona have not been contacted by Liverpool over the possibility of transferring Turan and neither has his agent.

The Reds have kept tabs on Turan but not with the view to sign the 29-year-old in January.

Turan has made no secret that he has a soft spot for Liverpool and has regularly been linked with a move to the Premier League giants over the past few seasons but a deal never materialised.

“I’ve always played for teams in red [Galatasaray, Manisaspor, Turkey] and I’ve always admired Steven Gerrard,” Turan told FourFourTwo magazine.

“So yes, I have a soft spot for Liverpool, especially given their history and the atmosphere at Anfield.”

Turan has another four-years remaining on his Barcelona contract and currently has five goals and four assists in all competitions for the La Liga giants.
