Liverpool team news: Four names omitted from squad, major boost for Turkish giants

Serbia international Lazar Markovic looks set for a move away from Anfield this summer.

The former Benfica man has been omitted from Liverpool’s 25-man Liverpool squad which flew to Hong Kong today.

Liverpool will compete in the Premier League Asia Trophy over the upcoming week.

The news comes as a major boost to Turkish Super League side Galatasaray who are interested in signing Markovic this summer.

The Mirror recently reported that the Lions were among several clubs in the race to sign Markovic. Per the source, Liverpool are willing to accept a £12 million offer for the former Benfica star.

The 23-year-old is no stranger to the Turkish Super League. Markovic previously spent a season on-loan with Fenerbahce.

Galatasaray are on the lookout for new midfielders after they terminated Wesley Sneijder’s contract earlier this week. The Lions finished last season in fourth place and are keen to strengthen ahead of the upcomming campaign.

Liverpool take on Crystal Palace next week and will face West Brom or Leicester City in the final of the Premier League Asia Trophy.

Mamadou Sakho, Sheyi Ojo and Cameron Brannagan were also left out of Liverpool’s 25-man-squad.
