Liverpool team news: Jurgen Klopp heaps praise on Emre Can

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on the Germany international midfielder Emre Can.

Can was the star of the show during Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Burnley FC over the weekend.

The 23-year-old scored the Reds winning goal in the second half via a powerful driven shot into the bottom corner. Can topped off his stunning goal with an even more impressive knee slide celebration (watch here).

SkySports named Can as the man of the match for his performance on the day.

Following the game, Liverpool manager Klopp praised Can’s attitude and defended the young midfielders recent form.

The German tactician stated that Can had been struggling with a calf injury.

“Emre is a boy with an outstanding attitude,” Jurgen Klopp was quoted as saying by ESPN.

“He’s had a few problems with his calf in the last few months, which we couldn’t sort quickly enough.

“Not because of our medical department but because sometimes he had it, sometimes not. A lot of specialists have been around to try and find out.

“But the situation was like this, that we could not say ‘go on holiday for four weeks and maybe it’s better then’—that’s not the situation.

“So it looks like we’ve found the solution now and he doesn’t have these problems any more.”

Liverpool moved five points clear of Arsenal following their win over Burnley however, the Gunners do have two games in hand.

The Reds take on Manchester City in their next league fixture this weekend.
