Liverpool team news: Klopp given major injury boost ahead of Leicester City clash

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been given a major boost ahead of the Leicester City clash.

Midfielder of Turkish origin Emre Can was a doubt heading into the Premier League game.

Klopp was quoted on the official Liverpool website as saying: “Matip and Can picked up knocks in the last game. Lovren is not in training, so he’s a doubt for the weekend.”

Can has however, recovered and returned to full training at Melwood on Thursday afternoon after picking up a knock in the 1-1 draw against Burnley last weekend.

Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip meanwhile both missed the training session and the first-choice centre-backs are in a race against time to prove their fitness.

Lovren will miss his third successive game if he is ruled out against the Foxes.

Matic meanwhile is recovering from a minor hamstring injury.

If the defensive duo are sidelined Ragnar Klavan is likely to start alongside Joe Gomez.

Liverpool are coming off the back of a 2-0 defeat to Leicester in the League Cup which was played on Tuesday 19 September.
