Liverpool team news: How Liverpool stars fared during Germany 1 – 0 England
Two Liverpool players made an appearance during England’s international friendly with Germany last night.
Gareth Southgate’s England side suffered a 1-0 defeat on the night despite a spirited performance.
Liverpool’s Adam Lallana was the Reds only player on the England national team. The tricky attacking midfielder almost put England ahead in the first half but his effort rebounded off the post.
The 28-year-old was replaced by Southampton’s Nathan Redmond mid-way through the second half.
Emre Can was Liverpool’s second player who featured in last night’s game. The 23-year-old started the game on the bench but came on in the second half.
The former Bayer Leverkusen man added some much needed steel to the Germany midfield.
Can has been in impressive form for Liverpool lately and put in another strong display against Manchester City last weekend.
The 23-year-old was also named as the man of the match during Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Burnley FC.
Liverpool take on their Merseyside rivals Everton in their next Premier League fixture.
Galatasaray striker Lukas Podolski ended up scoring the winning on goal in what was his last game for the Germany national side.
Podolski ended his career scoring 49 times in 130 games for Germany since making his debut in 2004.
