Liverpool Team News: Star Midfielder Ruled Out Of Champions League Clash Against Porto

Liverpool return to the Champions League in high spirits after returning to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Southampton in the Premier League.

The result kept the Reds two points above four-placed Tottenham in third.

Liverpool take on Porto next in the Last 16 first-leg clash at the Estadio do Dragao Stadium.

The Merseyside based outfit will be without Emre Can who is suspended for the clash.

The midfielder of Turkish origin has been named captain a few times over recent weeks and Jurgen Klopp may end up missing his first-choice midfielder.

The usual captain Jordan Henderson will however, be available.

In fact the only other player Klopp is currently missing will be Nathaniel Clyne.

Joe Gomez is a doubt but could be ready in time to make the trip to Porto.

The home side meanwhile will be without Felipe who is suspended. More worryingly, Vincent Aboubakar, Danilo Pereira and Andre Andre are all doubts and will be assessed before the game.

Liverpool scored 23 times in six games to top Group E but as has been the case so often this season they also leaked in goals.

The Reds conceded six in the group stages which is not a bad record but they have let in 31 goals in the Premier League – the highest goals conceded in the top four.

Porto head into the clash having won their last eight home games but the visitors are unbeaten against the Portuguese giants.

The Reds are also unbeaten in their last 10 games in the Champions League.
