Liverpool star Emre Can has been ruled out of Germany’s friendly game against Spain on Friday with a back problem.
Germany national team head coach Joachim Low has confirmed that the midfielder of Turkish origin will miss the game.
Low revealed that Can tried to train yesterday but was forced to stop.
The manager did state that he hopes the 24-year-old will return to training and play against Brazil.
“Emre Can will not be in the squad tomorrow because of the back problem he brought with him from Liverpool,” Low said. “He tried to train yesterday but broke it off because it was pinching a bit.
“Maybe Saturday he can return to training and hopefully play a role against Brazil.”
The news will come as a relief to Liverpool fans as Can will probably be ready for the Crystal Palace game after the international break and very likely the Champions League Last 16 first-leg clash against Manchester City that follows.
The midfielder has been a first-choice selection for Jurgen Klopp despite his ongoing contract situation.
Can will be a free agent at the end of the season unless he signs a contract extension.
The Reds star has scored a career high six-goals this season.
