Liverpool transfer news: Euro giants strike ‘agreement’ with Reds star, Klopp hopeful player stays

Germany international midfielder Emre Can’s long-term future at Liverpool is still cast in doubt.

The 23-year-old has under 12 months remaining on his contract with the Merseyside based club.

According to the Italian outlet Ilbianconero, Juventus made a last-ditch £23 million offer for Can. However, Liverpool rejected the bid and are keen to extend the German midfielder’s contract.

The report goes onto state that Juve already have ‘the basis of an agreement’ in place with Can.

Can currently earns £55,000 per week and is expected to – at least – double his income when he pens a new contract.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the midfielder and recently stated that he is keen to extend his contract.

“We are still in talks [with Can]. Do I think it is too cool that we didn’t fix it so far? No, to be honest,” Klopp was quoted as saying by the Independent.

“But it is all ok at the moment and we have to take it like this,”

Can registered three assists and five goals in 40 appearances for Liverpool last season.
