Liverpool Want To Replace Emre Can With Arsenal Midfielder

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can continues to be linked with an Anfield exit.

The 24-year-old will be a free agent at the end of the season unless he reaches an agreement over a contract extension.

Can is free to talk with other clubs over his future beyond the end of season.

The Reds have not given up hope of the midfielder of Turkish origin staying on at the club but are also making plans in case he does leave.

The Sun report that Liverpool want Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere as a potential replacement for Can if he does not end up signing a new deal.

Per the source, the Gunners have offered Wilshere new terms but they included a cut to his £90,000-a-week wages.

Liverpool meanwhile are prepared to match the 26-year-old’s wage demands if he rejects the Gunners offer.

Klopp has already poached one player from Arsenal, after signing Wilshere’s former team-mate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in a £35million deal.

The report claims that the Reds boss is a fan of Wilshere who has struggled for playing time due to his poor injury record.

Can did start in the 2-2 draw against Tottenham on Sunday and has been a first-team regular despite uncertainty over his future.
