£20m Liverpool Winger Returns To Melwood But Anfield Career Is ‘Over’, Super Lig Giants Could Complete Transfer

Lazar Markovic

Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic has returned to Melwood but his stay will be brief according to the Echo.

Per the source, the Serbian winger reported for pre-season training on Monday following his loan stint at Anderlecht over the second half of the season.

Markovic has ‘little prospect’ of staying on at Anfield and will be ‘on the move’ over the coming weeks.

The 24-year-old is expected to leave the club for a four successive summer.

The report states that Galatasaray and Anderlecht are among the sides interested in Markovic who has just 12 months remaining on his contract.

The Reds would only be able to raise a fraction of the £20m fee paid for the winger from Benfica in 2014 if he does leave – there is the chance the club may not receive a fee.

Turkish sports newspaper Fotomac meanwhile claim that Markovic has been offered to Galatasaray via agents and that head coach Fatih Terim will make a decision over whether to go ahead with the transfer.

The Serbia winger is no stranger to the Super Lig having previously spent a season on loan at Fenerbahce over the 2015-16 season.

After a bright start Markovic was hampered by injury.

Liverpool loaned him out to Sporting Lisbon the following season but the temporary move was canceled by mutual consent in January after just two league starts.
