Liverpool’s Emre Can “I could still declare for Turkey”

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has stated that he could still play for the Turkish national team.

The 20-year-old spoke with Liverpool FC’s official website ahead of this weekends trip to Crystal Palace.

“I don’t know why that is. I have never had a conversation with the German national coach,” Can said.

“I don’t believe coming to England will affect my chances. Last season I played for one of the best teams in Germany and didn’t get the call.

I could still declare for Turkey, where it might be easier to get a game, but if I am good enough I would rather play for Germany instead.”

Can was born in Germany to Turkish parents and is eligible to represent Germany and Turkey at international level.

The Germany U20 international moved to Liverpool on a £9.75m deal from Bayer Leverkusen this summer but missed much of the early part of the season with injury.
