Loris Karius opened up about Liverpool’s title chances and whether he will return earlier than expected from his loan spell at Besiktas.

The Reds are currently in first place in the Premier League after an impressive start to the season.

Karius feels they have a ‘serious chance’ to lift the title but that there is still a long way to go.

“Liverpool are four points ahead. They have a serious chance – but there are many more matches,” he told Haber 1903.

Karius joined the Black Eagles on a two-year deal over the summer but has been linked with a return to the Premier League club in January.

Reports in Turkey claimed throughout the first-half of the season that Besiktas were unhappy with Karius and wanted to send him back.

Karius said: “It’s very nice to be here – we are working really well together. We can catch the summit. In general, I feel good.”

He did, though, have words to say to media outlets who have speculated about his personal life.

“99 per cent of those written are nonsense. They associate me with women I have never heard of before. Why do they do it? I do not know this.”

Besiktas are happy with Karius who remains first-choice keeper for head coach Senol Gunes despite rumours claiming otherwise.

The Black-Whites have no intention of sending Karius back over the January transfer window.

Besiktas are currently nine points off leaders Basaksehir in the Super Lig but have 17 games to close the gap.
