‘He loves it here’ – Peter Beardsley plays down rumours that Newcastle starlet will leave after new contract deal

Newcastle United rising star Dan Barlaser scored a stunning goal in Tuesday night’s 2-1 win over Sparta Prague at Whitley Park in the Premier League International Cup.

Barlaser has been linked with a Newcastle exit after struggling to break into the first team but reserve team manager Peter Beardsley played down rumours that he will leave.

Beardsley underlined that Barlaser ‘loves’ it at Newcastle and the fact he signed a new contract deal proves his point.

“The club think highly of Dan. He’s signed another contract. He loves it here,” he was quoted as saying in the Shields Gazette.

Beardsley also underlined that the 20-year-old will break into the first team when senior manager Rafa Benitez decides it is the right time.

“The main man (Benitez) makes the right decisions,” he added.

“Ultimately, that’s what will happen.”
