“Make Liverpool a top European side” – Reds legend issues advice to contract-rebel Emre Can

Liverpool legend Sami Hyypia has urged Emre Can to put pen-to-paper on a new deal with the Merseyside based club.

Can appears to be nearing a move away from Liverpool after failing to pen a new deal with the Reds.

The 23-year-old has entered the final eight months of his contract and could even end up leaving the club for free next summer.

Hyypia has however advised Can to sign a new contract with Liverpool.

“He should stay and make Liverpool a top European side,” Hyypia told BT Sport.

Can has been linked with a move to Serie A giants Juventus in recent months.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail states that contract talks between Emre Can and Liverpool have broken down due to a disagreement over the inclusion of a release clause.

Can made the move to Liverpool from Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen for £8.75 million back in 2015

Liverpool recorded a 3-1 win over West Ham United on Saturday, Can played the full 90 minutes.
