Man City Ace Issues Reaction To Reception From Germany Fans

Man City ace Ilkay Gundogan believes a corner has been turned with Germany fans after a turbulent summer.

Gundogan was slammed by the German media after posing for a photo with Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan prior to the 2018 World Cup.

Things went from bad to worse after Germany crashed out of the World Cup in the group stages.

Ozil – who is also a Germany international of Turkish decent – ended up quitting the national team citing racism and discrimination.

Gundogan has however remained part of Joachim Low’s side and featured during Germany’s 0-0 draw with France earlier this week.

The Man City star was booed and jeered by some Germany fans when he came on in the second half.

However, Gundogan is happy with the reception after coming on as a sub.

‘I can go home with a smile,’ Gundogan told reporters after the game.

‘I was very pleased there was a lot of applause, I was able to respond and concentrate on the game from that moment.’
