Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has stated that he will provide support to Ilkay Gundogan who is currently nursing a knee injury.
The 25-year-old dislocated his knee during training last month and will miss Euro 2016. Bild report that it will take Gundogan four to six months for him to make a full recovery.
According to the Daily Star newspaper, Kompany is happy to be Gundogan’s ‘minder‘ and support him though Gundogan’s recovery.
Gundogan marks who also missed the 2014 World Cup with injury has become the first transfer of the Pep Guardiola era.
The 25-year-old will also be reunited with former manager Jurgen Klopp in the Premier League next season although he will be playing for an opposing side this time around.
The midfield playmaker initially joined Dortmund from Nuremberg in 2011 under the stewardship of Klopp and helped the Bundesliga giants reach the 2013 Champions League final.
