Galatasaray have suffered a major blow in their quest to sign Manchester City defender Jason Denayer.

The Belgium international spent the season on loan at the Istanbul based club. Denayer cemented his place in Fatih Terim’s starting eleven and played a major role in Gala’s 21’s league championship.

According to the Turkish outlet Fanatik, Lions boss Terim is keen for Denayer remaining at Galatasaray for the upcoming season.

However, Manchester City have rejected Galatasaray’s loan offer for the 22-year-old old. The report goes onto state that Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille are also interested in the versatile defender.

Denayer has two years remaining on his contract with the Citizens. The Belgium international is unlikely to feature for Man City next season after falling out of favour with Pep Guardiola last summer.

Denayer provided one assist in 22 Turkish Super Lig appearances for Galatasaray this season. The Lions will feature in the UEFA Champions League next term following their title win.
