Manchester City came from behind to beat Hoffenheim 2-1 in Germany in their Match Day 2 Champions League clash on Tuesday.
There was however, bad news for the visitors as Ilkay Gundogan had to be taken off with what appeared to be a hamstring problem on 68 minutes.
The Sun report that the midfielder of Turkish origin is a major doubt for the Premier League clash against Liverpool on the weekend as a result.
The 27-year-old was seen laying on the pitch with his hand holding his right hamstring.
Gundogan was able to walk off but he is unlikely to recover in time for the game against the Reds.
The City medical team will run tests on the midfielder to determine the severity of his injury.
The latest injury blow follows Sergio Aguero being an injury concern with a heel problem.
Additionally, Kevin De Bruyne will miss the game with a knee ligament injury.
Premier League leaders City are locked on 19 points with Liverpool who are second through goal difference.
