Manchester City star midifelder Ilkay Gundogan has revealed that he is looking forward to his sides encounter with Liverpool. The Citizens take on the Merseyside based club on October 7 at Anfield.
Pep Guardiola’s side suffered back-to-back defeats to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League last season and lost to the Reds at Anfield in the league too.
The two sides look set to compete for the Premier League title this season following positive starts to their 2018/19 campaigns.
Gundogan was on form for Man City during their 5-0 win over Cardiff City on Saturday. Liverpool meanwhile defeated Southampton by a 3-0 scoreline.
The 27-year-old has admitted that he is already looking ahead to his sides clash with Liverpool next month.
“At the moment it looks like those games against the top clubs will be important,” Gundogan told the Independent.
“We play Liverpool in a couple of weeks so it will be a real test for us at Anfield as they are also getting their points.
“Liverpool is a very strong team and Chelsea are very strong. United just dropped points against Wolves, like we did, so I think Wolves will cause a lot of problems.
“But it’s up to us in the end. We are trying to play like we did today because when we are ready like this our chances of winning games and titles are the highest. So that’s what we try to achieve every game.”

Gundogan will, however, need to focus on taking on Brighton this weekend in the Premier League. City sits in second place with 16 points after six games. The Germany international has registered two assists and scored one goal in eight games for the Citizens.
