Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan is set to build a 13 story shopping mall which will include 42 shops and 123 offices in Balikesir, Turkey.
Gundogan brought the land for the building in 2016 and has now been granted permission by the Balikesir council to convert the building into a shopping mall.
The investment is the midfielder’s latest of a series of ongoing projects in the province.
Gundogan is also financing the construction of a stadium in the Dursunbey district of Balıkesir in Turkey which will be used by Dursunbey FC.
The Dortmund star was born in Germany but his family originates from Dursunbey and his father İrfan – who also happens to be his agent – has been closely involved in the construction of the sporting venue.
The stadium is named after Gundogan and he is expected to visit the grounds to unveil the stadium inauguration.
Gundogan is one of several Premier League players born in Germany but of Turkish origin.
Arsenal star Mesut Ozil, Liverpool’s Emre Can and Everton striker Cenk Tosun are also part of the Turkish community in Germany.
Ozil, Can and Gundogan play for Germany while Tosun is a Turkey international.
