Man City team news: Guardiola faces selection headache ahead of Liverpool clash, following injury to star defender

Manchester City take on Liverpool this weekend as they look to record back to back victories.

The game takes place at the Etihad stadium on Saturday, kick-off is scheduled for 12:30 (GMT).

Pep Guardiola’s side needed a last second goal against Bournemouth in their previous fixture and dropped points against Everton last month.

The Citizens have struggled to break down defensive minded teams so far this season but will be up against an attack-minded Liverpool this weekend.

Man City team news: 

Pep Guardiola is facing a selection headache following the injury to Vincent Kompany while on international duty with Belgium.

On a positive note, Germany international Ilkay Gundogan could return to the match-day squad. The 26-year-old playmaker has been sidelined for nine months since suffering a knee injury last December.

Raheem Sterling will miss the game due to a a one-match suspension following his red card at Bournemouth.
