Man City team news: Star midfielder facing at least six weeks out

Germany international due Ilkay Gundogan and Leroy Sane suffered at the hands of some rough treatment during Man City’s win over Cardiff City in the FA Cup.

The Citizens recorded a 2-0 win over Cardiff to book their place in the fifth round.

Leroy Sane was forced off following a dangerous challenge while Gundogan required lengthy treatment after being on the wrong end of a hard tackle in the first half.

Unfortunately, Leroy Sane faces at least six weeks on the sidelines with an ankle injury. Man City confirmed the news on their official Twitter page yesterday afternoon.

City boss Pep Guardila also spoke about Sane’s injury to reporters.

“He is injured. He will be six or seven weeks out,” Gundogan stated

Fortunately for City, Gundogan managed to escape the game without any major damage. The 26-year-old missed a year of football due to a knee injury last year and has only recently made a full recovery.
