Man City Try To Hijack Arsenal Move For £30m Bundesliga Star Defender After Holding First Round Of Talks

Caglar Soyuncu

Manchester City are trying to hijack Arsenal’s move for Freiburg star defender Caglar Soyuncu according to reports from Turkey.

The Milliyet report that City have already held a first round of talks with Soyuncu following reports that the Gunners were preparing a move.

Per the source, City boss Pep Guardiola is keen on the 21-year-old who fits his demands for a modern defender.

Guardiola is reported to be impressed with Soyuncu’s ability to play the ball out of defence, his passing, speed and technical ability.

City have history with poaching Turkish talent recently after signing Enes Unal for just £2 million in 2015 before selling him to Villarreal for £12 million with a buyback option.

The report does however, claim that Arsenal are currently favourites to land the centre-back as they are prepared to offer £30 million.

The Gunners could face competition from Roma, who could swoop in with a summer offer like they did for Cengiz Under.

The Italian giants sporting director Monchi has confirmed interest in Soyuncu.

“We are scouting Caglar, we have been keeping close tabs on him,” Monchi said.

“We know how talented he is and how much potential he has.”

Soyuncu has one goal in 26 appearances for Freiburg this season.
