Manchester City are eyeing a shock move for Liverpool star midfielder Emre Can.

The 24-year-old’s Liverpool future is currently cast in doubt following a contract dispute. Can has under five months left on his contract and could end up leaving the Reds for free in the summer.

According to the Mirror, City have expressed an interest in Emre Can.

Per the source, Liverpool are keeping tabs on Schalke 04 midfielder Leon Goretzka as a replacement for Can.

However, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has not given up hopes of extending the combative midfielder’s contract. German football expert Marc Behrenbeck has revealed that Can will hold showdown talks with Klopp in the near future.

Can could be back in action for Liverpool when they take on Swansea City in the Premier League on Monday night.

Liverpool sit in third place in the league with 47 points after 23 games.
