Manchester United are set to welcome back key man Andre Onana for their Premier League return against Wolves after his Africa Cup of Nations stint with Cameroon according to manager Erik ten Hag.

Altay Bayindir’s short stint in goal could already be coming to an end with Onana returning from AFCON after international duty with Cameroon.

Ten Hag revealed that Onana will be back for the game, in his pre-match press conference when asked about team news he said: “Mason Mount is too soon but Andre Onana will return.”

Onana, who only featured in one match before their tournament exit, is poised to reclaim his starting spot between the sticks.

The keeper was dropped from the Cameroon team for the final two games after a poor display in the one match he featured in.

Ten Hag has however, been unable to drop Onana despite his poor form for United and continues to place his trust in him.

This comes at the expense of Bayindir who made his debut in the FA Cup against against Newport County.

The Turkish international may struggle for playing time now for the rest of the season unless Ten Hag makes a bold decision and decides to drop Onana based on form in the near future.

Bayidir will continue to fight for his place in the team but if he does not get playing time it could cost him his place as first choice keeper in goal for the Turkish national team at Euro 2024.
