Man United join Turkish giants in race to sign Chelsea defender – talks already underway

Kurt Zouma

Fenerbahce have suffered a major blow in their pursuit of Chelsea star centre-back Kurt Zouma.

The France international has been closely linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer after failing to secure his place in Chelsea’s squad.

Fenerbahce’s director of football recently held talks with Chelsea with the view of signing Zouma on a 12-month loan deal.

However, the French outlet L’Equipe have reported that Manchester United are keen on signing Kurt Zouma and that talks with the Blues are already underway.

Per the source, United boss Jose Mourinho is a huge fan of the towering defender and wants to bring him to Old Trafford.

However, L’Equipe goes onto state that Chelsea are reluctant to sell Zouma to a Premier League rival.

Mourinho was in charge when Chelsea signed Zouma from Saint-Etienne for approximately £12 million back in January 2014.

Zouma spent last season on loan with Stoke City but was unable to help them avoid relegation.

The 23-year-old has five years remaining on his contract with Chelsea.
