Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir opened up about his time settling into the city and more in an interview published on the official club website.

Altay Bayındır joined United from Fenerbahçe in the summer of 2023, was a guest on the Manchester United TV podcast.

He spoke about his career and his new club, and emphasized that Fenerbahçe vs. Galatasaray is the biggest derby in Turkey.

Bayındır was asked about how he has found Manchester so far, what he thinks of the weather and the food.

The Turkish international revealed that while English and Turkish food is very different he likes the local cuisine and surprised the interviewer with his response to the British weather.

“Turkish food and English food is very different but of course English food is good but different, I have been to a Turkish steak restaurant it is very good, you should go,” Bayindir said.

The food here is ok, just different from Turkey but it is really, really amazing, food and everything is good here, Manchester is a very nice city, people are smiling in the street and are very positive, this it is very important for me.

“Here everyday it rains, when I see rain my inside becomes so happy, when I am working on the pitch and I see its raining I feel more strong, that I can do more, that I can do better, my energy is coming from the rain.”

Bayindir also revealed that the match he looked forward to most while playing back at Fenerbahce was the big derby against Galatasaray.

He explained that he loved the atmosphere in the big derby games.

“Galatasaray matches were the biggest derby. The matches we played with Beşiktaş were also big matches, but Galatasaray was different and I loved that atmosphere very much,” he said.

He has not yet played an official match for Manchester United, but he is excited to be at the club and is looking forward to making his debut.
