Man United Make Transfer Decision Amid Galatasaray Interest

Galatasaray - Türk Telekom Arena

Christian Eriksen will not be joining Galatasaray this winter, despite interest from the Turkish club, according to Sky Sports.

The 31-year-old midfielder will stay at Old Trafford until the summer transfer window opens, with his future to be decided later.

Galatasaray, keen to bolster their midfield, had hoped to secure Eriksen on loan with an option to buy.

However, Eriksen’s contract at Manchester United runs until June 2025, and with the club recently acquired by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group, a squad audit is planned before the summer window.

This, coupled with potential opportunities for increased playing time under Erik ten Hag, has led to Eriksen’s decision to stay.

Despite being under contract, Eriksen’s playing time has been limited this season due to injuries and competition within the squad.

He has started only three Premier League games since mid-November, although he did get full appearances in the recent losses to Nottingham Forest and played nearly an hour in the draw against Tottenham.

The Lions will have to wait until the summer to try again for Eriksen and will have to seek options elsewhere before the Super Lig transfer window shuts tomorrow.

The Super Lig transfer window runs later than most European leagues so Galatasaray still have time to complete a deal.

Galatasaray are currently locked in a two-horse title race with rivals Fenerbahce in the Super Lig and are competing in the Europa League as well.
