Man United news: Competition for star forward hots up as Wolfsburg ask for transfer, Turkish league champions also make offer

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial was among the names included in the summer US tour squad.

Despite making the cut Martial has been closely linked with a summer exit.

Bundesliga giants Wolfsburg became the latest side to enter the race for the France international.

German Magazine Kicker claim that Wolfsburg have asked United to loan Martial.

Per the source, Wolfsburg sport director Olaf Rebbe made the enquiry and is waiting for a response from the Red Devils.

The German side could face competition from Turkish league champions Besiktas.

The Black Eagles also want Martial on loan and would be able to offer guaranteed Champions League football next season.

Turkish newspaper Milliyet report that Jose Mourinho has given the 23-year-old the green light to leave as long as first team football can be guaranteed.

Despite being linked with a move Martial is keen on fighting for his place at United.

Martial’s cousin wrote the following Tweet which in English to: “I can confirm Inter’s interest in Anthony, however, he’s focusing solely on Manchester United. His thoughts are fixated on pre-season with United.”

Martial’s future could end up depending on United’s transfer activity. The 23-year-old has already fallen behind the striker pecking order after the arrival of Romelu Lukaku.

The French forward could struggle to playing time out wide if the Red Devils complete the signing of Inter star Ivan Perisic.

Martial scored four times and provided six assists in 25 Premier League appearances last season.
